A Massage Designed for You

Massage therapy is one of the kindest and most ancient ways of maintaining the body and mind. At Louma we believe the best kind of massage is one that’s designed specifically for you, so all you need to do is decide the amount of time you’d like to spend in our hands.

When you arrive at the Wellness Barn we’ll ask you to find a space in which to relax – which could be beside the pool or on the upper or lower terrace. We’ll give you a simple form to fill in, and when that’s done your therapist will come and find you, spending five or ten minutes chatting through what you’d like or need. Then it’s a short walk to one of our hand-built massage huts – stopping to admire one of the best views in Louma: over the fields down to the sea.

Nestled in nature, we’ve crafted a cosy cocoon in our solid-wood huts, filled with soft warm colours and mellow music. You’ll have space and time to change (if necessary) and then those magic minutes will begin.

After your massage is finished, we’ll serve you our special Louma Rosemary and Honey Fizz on the terrace or by the pool. Or, if you’d prefer, we’ll bring it to your room. Designed to stimulate the digestive enzymes, it’s the perfect complement to your massage, deepening your sense of relaxation and calm; ensuring you’ll feel your absolute best, both outside and in.

Your Hands-On Experience

Your massage will encompass one or all of the following:

Holistic Massage

Holistic comes from the Greek word ‘holos’, meaning ‘whole’, and all our massages begin with a quick body scan to assess where you’re at and what you’ll need.  A particularly calming and soothing massage, this uses a variety of techniques to manipulate the muscles and soft tissues, improving blood circulation and metabolism, while increasing the flow of nutrients. The gentle strokes will enable you to enter a meditative-like state, reducing stress and anxiety.

Deep Tissue Massage

This is a massage technique that uses deep pressure to release the tension and tightness that muscles and connective tissue can hold. Involving strong, slow strokes (of varying degrees of firmness), it typically focuses on specific areas. Once your nervous system and blood flow have been regulated, your muscle tone will be ready for more targeted work. Our skill in feeling and reading your body means that muscle fibres will be worked deeper and smoothed out, helping to relieve areas of tightness and discomfort.

Swedish Massage

This technique involves flowing strokes, combined with targeted rubbing, kneading, stroking and tapping the muscles, making it perfect for relaxation or the more general relief of stress and aches. We like to think of it as a kind of dance: a steady flow of movement and vibration that will allow your body and mind to find the perfect peaceful frequency.
