For the Kids

Louma was inspired by the idea of recreating precious childhood memories for our smaller guests. And we’ve thought carefully about the opportunities we can offer the kids, of all ages and sizes.

You can borrow our bikes and take a turn or two around our 100 acre site. Or explore the woodland via our very special trail. You can play an abundance of games whilst spotting birds in one of our hides. Or how about, taking a swim in the Wellness Barn pool, milking the cows or collecting the eggs from our chickens? We offer special children’s hampers for our picnics, and experiences to learn in our Forest School whilst you grab yourself a massage or glass of wine from our 30 acre vineyard. Take time for you.

Louma is a very special patch of earth, and we want to help your children understand why by having fun.

Our Playground

Designed with maximum outdoor fun in mind, our outdoor Play Area will entice both the young and the young at heart. Let the little ones balance, swing, climb and slide through our woodland-inspired play equipment, giving them space to burn up energy outside and use their bodies and brains whilst moving around the obstacle courses.

Forest School

At our Forest School sessions, your young ones will engage in child-centred experiences and learning that offer opportunities for holistic growth through play and exploration with our seasoned practitioner. Developing confidence and self-esteem through learner-inspired activities, they’ll delight in hands-on activities in the natural setting of our woodland, using nature as a canvas. Whether your child is a budding artist with bundles of creativity, eager to be active and burn off some energy through some exciting games or a keen naturalist, we can create experiences bespoke to their interests and needs. Flower pressing, den building, fire lighting and whitling are all examples of activities that your children could enjoy, whilst you spend some much-needed time in our Wellness Barn or experiencing a Wine Tasting session.

In our Stay and Play Pre-School sessions children aged 2-4, accompanied by an adult, can enjoy a variety of engaging activities. Sessions can include music and movement, messy play and exploration and interactive story time. Our youngest guest will have a magical time in the wonderful woodland whilst learning through play.

Things to Do – Animal Hour

Encourage your children to explore our working farm for the daily rounds as we tend to our flocks of Light Sussex hens and Poll Dorset sheep, our native-breed Red Ruby cattle, and West Country Black pigs. They may collect eggs, fill troughs, and hand feed the animals. Animal hour will vary throughout the seasons and will always have something different and exciting to discover.

Woodland Walk

Your children will love running along our Woodland Walk underneath the majestic canopy of turkey oaks, sycamores, beech and hazel trees – some of which are over 120 years old. Listen for the wind in the leaves and feel the ground at your feet whilst you reconnect in nature, perhaps finding treasures to forage along the way. Built by our neighbour and traditional chairmaker, David Saltmarsh and local spoon carver, Adam Hawker, our Woodland Walk winds through our Woodland, Spence Plantation, and spans an incredible 597m.
