Whether it’s a quick green juice before your morning run, or a lingering affair with the papers, a Louma breakfast is a wonderful way to start your day.
We make our own jams, cure our bacon, gather honey from the hives – and we’ve heard guests tell one another to try the sausages (made with our own secret recipe and pork from our rare-breed Old Blacks). Then there’s homemade pastries, granola, fresh eggs (many ways), smoothies. And, of course, the finest coffees and choice of teas.
Lunch is a wonderfully sociable occasion, served as a buffet – where our food is freshly cooked and continually replenished.
There’s wood-fired meats and pizza, sparkling fish, vibrant garden salads and home-made cakes. You can lounge by the fire or bask in sunshine on the terrace overlooking the sea. Whether you want a quick refuel, or a mid-day feast, second or third helpings are part of the pleasure, and hard to resist!
Available between 12 noon and two, at a flat price of £20 for adults and £10 for children, it’s a Louma eating experience you won’t want to miss.
A Louma dinner is something very special: a celebration of our best seasonal food, grown and reared on our land. Our work begins the night before, with a message from our local fisherman telling us what they’ll be bringing us the next morning. Then you’ll find us foraging for mushrooms, nuts and wild fruits in the woods, or talking to our kitchen gardeners in order to plan dishes that use the best of what the garden and greenhouse have that day.
For us, our ingredients are the stars of our plates, knowing you can taste the richness of the soil and the freshness of the air in what we cook. Whether it’s our farm beef, slow-cooked for 48 hours; a plump slice of hake, fresh from the sea; or a tiny bunch of carrots, seared with a dab of butter and sprinkled with sugar, we want our food to make our guests feel both contented and curious.
Curious as to where it comes from, how it’s produced, and why it tastes so much better because of it.
Cooking over fire is an elemental pleasure; our Braai area allows for a communal dining experience in the open air. Neighbouring the Ornamental Garden and using ingredients from the garden, fields and pastures, you can enjoy a private lunch or dinner, as well as play host to BBQ nights and events, with supper served family-style on our picnic tables. You are welcome to get as hands-on in the preparation as you’d like, or allow our chefs to cook for you, either way, you’ll enjoy a barbecue experience like no other.
