Family owned, our vineyard spans 33 acres on West Dorset’s Jurassic coast. With its rolling seaside hills and coastal breezes this is a very special place to make wine. It has a range of slopes and climatic differences that give our vineyard team and winemakers a comprehensive set of opportunities to highlight their skills and make the best Dorset wines.
Set within our 100-acre farm and retreat are the two vineyards that were first planted in 2006. Collectively, they are now home to almost 30,000 vines and are sensitively planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier and new plantings of Pinot Gris and Divico.
We give a huge amount of love to our soil and vines, which shows in the fruits of our labour and the quality of our wine. Every step in the production of our wines is overseen by our team from grape growing and pruning through to winemaking and bottling.
We are committed to constantly improving our performance in terms of environmental, social and economic sustainability and aim to minimise any impact on the environment.
At Louma we produce two signature sparkling wines, our Special Cuvée and Rosé and three still wines: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Rosé.
We have created our wines to be shared with family and friends. Delicious, elegant, and perfectly balanced, with a unique character and like everything we do at Louma, our wines are made with the utmost care and respect for the environment.
“I have been part of the Louma journey since the beginning of 2021 and immediately connected with their holistic, yet pragmatic vision and business ambitions. As for contributing to their wine styles, I have been able to draw upon my previous experience at Cloudy Bay in the cool climates of New Zealand and the Champagne houses; Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot and Dom Pérignon for Louma’s still and sparkling wine. The team at Louma are the stewards of a unique vineyard that harnesses both the essence of the English countryside and the maritime influences of the sea.”
“My team and I look after the vineyard using regenerative practices. We are devoted viticulturists, nurturing the vines throughout each season, ensuring the best quality fruit come each harvest. We believe that our regenerative approach is reflected in our wine, creating unique character and taste: each drop a testament to the team and the glorious West Dorset hills on which every grape is grown.
Throughout the years we are learning from our vines and constantly trying to improve our practices, whether that’s introducing livestock to the vineyard, companion planting, or planning for the changeable climate. “
